Wind Mitigation Inspections | Home Inspection Palm Coast

A Wind Mitigation Inspection is an inspection used to determine if the structure can withstand damage from hurricane force winds. Our wind mitigation inspections determine if the home has certain protective features, and if such features are correctly installed. Wind mitigation inspections also determine the condition of these features and whether or not the hurricane winds they have already taken damage from is enough to replace them. Among the things that wind mitigation inspections analyze are construction features such as reduced losses in hurricanes, concrete block construction, clips or hurricane straps, presence of a secondary water resistant barrier, the presence of gable end bracing, shutters and opening protections, type of roof, and the presence of roof to wall attachments.

Many homeowners don’t seem to be aware of the fact that wind mitigation inspections can qualify for wind or windstorm credits with any Florida homeowners insurance company. This can mean a substantial savings of up to 88% for homeowners. However, without wind mitigation inspections being done you cant have this benefit and many homeowners pay much more money than they have to. After performing wind mitigation inspections many homeowners are pleased with the financial difference it makes in there insurance budgets and are grateful to have been informed of this often left out detail.

Wind Mitigation Inspections are used to determine if the structure can withstand damage from hurricane force winds.

Our wind mitigation inspections are done when a certified inspector takes the time to go to the home and investigate the most important features of that home. The features closely analyzed are the ones that are prone to decrease their damage resistance from hurricane or strong windstorm. Each of of the features has different categories in which they fall under from exterior construction, the shape of the roof and the construction method used, age of the roof covering, door and window opening protection, as well as the year that the home was built.
